It’s unprecedented in the Sahara. The HARMUSH team discovered in one of its photographic traps the images of a Cuvier’s gazelle and its baby gazelle.
These are the first unpublished video images of a cuvieri Gazella feeding in the Sahara desert.
It took us almost 5 years to get videos that we are enthusiastic about as much as this one and that, moreover, show that life in the desert, even if it is very very difficult for these animals, is also the will to make an effort to be by their side and help them in everything they need.

The Cuvier’s Gazelle has, however, disappeared from several areas where it was formerly present – eastern Rif , Central plateau, forests of Benslimane and the center of middle Atlas-.
The species has regressed throughout its range due to the increase in anthropogenic pressure, mainly in the form of direct sampling, but also due to the transformation of forested areas into pasture and agricultural land .
Hunting and excessive harvesting greatly contributed to the decline of the species. Although its preferred habitat provides better protection against hunters using 4×4 vehicles than other species of North African gazelles (de Smet et al., in press), it is still prone, at least locally, to high poaching pressure . Its population has thus been reduced, in some isolated regions, to a few dispersed groups.
